SOC Engineer (L1) is responsible for 24×7 monitoring and support of telecom network infrastructure to ensure maximum network availability and service quality. The role involves alarm monitoring, first-level troubleshooting, incident management, stakeholder coordination, and timely escalation of network issues in line with defined operational procedures and SLA commitments. Monitor network alarms and events across telecom infrastructure on a 24×7 basis. Perform first-level troubleshooting for Transmission, OTN, SDH, DWDM, CEN, MPLS, ISP, WAN, IP, and Access Network issues. Create, update, track, and manage incident tickets through ITSM platforms. Escalate unresolved incidents to L2/L3 support teams as per the defined escalation matrix. Coordinate with field engineers, customers, vendors, and internal teams during fault isolation and restoration activities. Conduct proactive monitoring and identify potential network risks before they impact services. Ensure compliance with SLA commitments and operational processes. Maintain accurate incident logs, shift handover reports, and operational documentation. Support planned maintenance, network upgrades, and change management activities. Prepare and share daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports and dashboards. Participate in major incident management and bridge calls when required. Required Skills & Competencies Technical Skills Basic understanding of TCP/IP, Routing, Switching, MPLS, VPN, and WAN technologies. Knowledge of telecom transmission technologies including Fiber, Ethernet, Microwave, OTN, SDH, and DWDM. Familiarity with NOC monitoring tools, EMS/NMS platforms, and ticketing systems. Understanding of network troubleshooting methodologies and fault management processes. Basic knowledge of incident management, escalation handling, and service assurance operations. Behavioral Skills Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and coordination skills. Ability to work effectively in a 24×7 rotational shift environment.
